Gearbox mounts..

200 horses+ a bullet-proof 5 speed on rubbers...
you can have your cake and eat it too !

the car is quiet, shifts well and doesn't rattle your fillings out...perfect !

in place, using intermediate mount style rubber blocks, with ally spacers. same grade as the "normal" int. blocks either side of the frame horns(again, swapable if you want)

powdercoated

a build up shot of the 2 gearbox cradle yokes (one for rubber, one optional solid for track) and the new intermediate mount with three forward mounts that connnect to the dropper plate via rubber blocks. the beauty being you can easily swap to solid if you want to go racing

while the engine was out for rebuild at Funkenblitz,Pete had a good look at the current mounting of the gearbox. it was solid mounted front, mid and rear...great for racing but not so good for the street. Pete welded a later front mount (oem VW) to the oval chassis (a lengthy job in itself) and fabricated a system based on the Berg idea, but upgraded. here you can see the dropper plate that was made to fit the chassis mount. also note the twin oil coolers, torque bar, high power starter, hydraulic clutch assembly etc

a library shot of a Berg 5 mount for a later car. note the 2 solid forward mounts but rubber "mid" mounts. mine was all solid at this point (Berg recommend swapping the rubber to ali for the track or if you are having shifting issues)
